Where New York Mets Fans Get Their Fix

New York Mets Podcast #9

Thoughts on the first seven games of the Mets road trip. The Mets escaped by the hair of their chinny chin chin today with a series win in San Francisco.

Show Notes

4-3 on the road trip with Braves series coming up.
Victor Zambrano sinks Mets in two straight starts.
Carlos Beltran’s ridiculous stretch on the bench.
Braves series rotation. Will Steve Trachsel get the start?
Pitching to Barry Bonds. Hell yes, when Alou is behind him.
Jose Reyes breaks out in Mets latest win.
David Wright’s blown save.
Keith Hernandez apologizes for (ridiculously tame) remarks about Padres female massage therapist.
It’s win or bust at Turner field this weekend.

  1. hi, i have been listening since episode 1. not too bad. good stuff for the commute, and a nice break from the fan. it is nice to have a fan perspective, a fella who cares about the team rather than a radio dude talking about them because the local market requires it. keep it up.

grassroots, fan-produced media, i like it.

  2. Thanks for stopping by Martin. Definitely nothing fancy here. Just venting on the progress of the team in ‘06. And I’m glad to include the thoughts and comments of other fans in this space.

    Cheers,

    Rob

  3. Awesome podcast! I’m a 20 year Mets fan (yes, I jumped on the bandwagon in 86, but haven’t gotten off since) and I think it’s great to hear intellgent, unbiased comments about the team. I currently live in Baltimore, so other than the crappy Mets MLB website, I don’t get too much news about them.
Keep up the great work and someday I might get the courage to call in, as you requested in this podcast. Maybe you’d get more participation if you asked a question at the end of the podcast and invited listeners to give their opinions. Like, “Do you think Beltran is milking the injury” or “Should the Mets just cut that waste of space, Jorge Julio.”
By the way, my answers are “yes” and “yes” :)

  4. Kevin,

Glad to have you on board. It’s tough to find Mets content, even in New York. And the Yankees seem to get the back page stories even when they lost. I appreciate the advice on the ??? at the end of the podcast as well.

    Cheers,

    Rob

  5. Heres a question, now that Bannister is hurt, if who ever replaces him does a great job. Do you move them to the fifth spot when Bannister comes back and send Zambrano somewhere else. Personally I would I think the sooner Zambrano is out of the rotation the better.

  6. Well that’s a big IF! I’m not sure how long Bannister will be out but I know he certainly deserves a chance to get right back in the rotation when his hammy gets better.

I don’t think any Mets fan would object to Zambrano getting bounced from the rotation at this point. The guy needs work and he’s better off getting that work in Norfolk.
